You usually start with 100% trust. It’s yours to secure, protect, and sustain. But usually, it’s squandered. Not showing up like you said you would. Failing to following through on a commitment. A snide comment to an associate. A deception. All of these lead to undermining our trust.
Many large corporations squander trust as a function of doing business. Banks and car manufactures weigh the penalty they’ll pay in court against the cost they’ll have to pay to do the right thing, even if it means sacrificing the lives of those who have placed their trust in them.
Trust isn’t earned.
Trust is given.
